Hometown Medical Supply will become Hometown Healthcare Store and change their operations to Outlet Store pricing.
Northampton, MA Thursday, December 08, 2011– Hometown Medical Supply of Northampton will be changing its name officially to HOMETOWN HEALTHCARE STORE as of January, 2012. Still owned and operated by Eddie Tapanes and his wife Michaelena Murphy-Tapanes, they will not only be changing its name but also the way they conduct business. “Due to the changes in Medicare reimbursement and competitive bidding coming to Western Massachusetts in 2012, we have no other option but to transition away from accepting insurances. By not accepting insurances we can offer patients much lower prices, most of which would be cheaper than if they had used their insurance in the first place. With more and more items not being covered and deductibles increasing as well, this is the only logical solution to still offer personal service in this industry as well as stay afloat in this economy,” states owner and manager Eddie Tapanes. Transitioning to complete medical supply retail will be a win win situation for everyone. Michaelena Murphy-Tapanes, a pharmacist/manager for a large retailer, states “this is not only what is happening in the durable medical/wellness sector, but also in pharmacies as well. More patients are finding it cheaper to use special savings plans offered by most pharmacies for larger supplies of medications than to go under their insurance month to month.” The healthcare industry is rapidly changing in this country and we must change along with it. We feel strongly that this change will benefit our customers, by offering affordable and reliable home medical products. For further information, contact us at 413-320-4665.
